History

Every year Iceland holds a Charity Amateur Golf Day and few events better demonstrate our long-held belief that there are no more natural partners than fundraising and fun!

The event is a highlight in the calendar of our suppliers, who loyally support it year after year. With their help, in just a total of 22 days, we have raised nearly £2.5m for charity. Funds are raised for the Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation, with pledges made to our Charity of the Year and other good causes we support. Many charities have benefited from the event, including Alder Hey Children's Charity, Help for Heroes, Alzheimer's Research UK, Prostate Cancer UK and The Royal British Legion.

What makes the event so special?

Firstly the venue, Carden Park Golf Resort, which is set in some beautiful Cheshire countryside, with two first class courses: the Nicklaus and the Cheshire.

There is healthy rivalry between our 4-ball teams in the Texas Scramble and the Team Stableford competitions as well as the 'longest drive', 'hole in one' and 'nearest the pin' competition holes.

Secondly, great care is taken in the planning of the event in order to ensure that our guests' every need is catered for. Breakfast and lunch are served in the Club House, where registration takes place and goody bags are handed out. Refreshments are available out on the course throughout the day, starting with Champagne on the 1st tee and the NGL Golf team are on hand to explain the competition rules and monitor scoring. Players can have their clubs cleaned to maximise performance and their muscles loosened by our complimentary masseuse.

Finally the day is brought to a close with a gala dinner. Guests enjoy a delicious meal prepared by the hotel's Head Chef and his team. Players learn who played the best in the competition winners' prize presentation. There is also stand up bingo fun, superb items to bid on in our silent and live auctions and, of course, great entertainment from our guest speakers.

It is our aim to make sure that all of our guests fully enjoy the day and this can all be done whilst raising money for some very worthy causes.

How can you get involved?

There are many ways to get involved; you don't have to play golf to support this event!

  • Book a team for one of both golf courses
  • Sponsor a hole
  • Place an ad in our event brochure
  • Book places at our gala dinner
  • Sponsor the silent auction bid technology
  • Donate a prize for our auctions
  • Donate refreshments
2016 Event

This year's event format is slightly different, with two Stableford competitions running concurrently on the Nicklaus and Cheshire 18 hole courses.

The gala dinner will be held in a marquee in the grounds of the Chief Executive's home. Broxton Old Hall is less than 10 minutes from Carden Park. This change of venue for the gala dinner will allow us to include more guests in the evening element of this prestigious event.

Invitation emails are sent out to our suppliers at the end of March. D&G Partners Ltd manage the bookings for our event and they will be in touch by telephone to reserve your places.
